Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality and the LoCS4 Africa Congress will be hosting the inaugural launch Conference of AfriAlliance, taking place from 22 to 24 March, 2017. The Conference and Congress will run in parallel.
The AfriAlliance Conference takes two and a half days, coinciding with World Water Day.
LoCS4 Africa 2017 will focus on water for cities, Integrated Urban Water Management and climate change. ICLEI's Congress series connects local and sub-national authorities with business and industry, investors, scientists, technical experts, development partners, national governments and civil society.
The Local Climate Solutions for Africa (LOCS4Africa) Congress series is Africa’s leading platform on local climate action, organised by ICLEI. The 2017 edition will explore critical links between climate change and urban water and sanitation in Africa’s cities.
The AfriAlliance project aims to prepare Africa for future climate change challenges by having African and European stakeholders work together in the areas of water innovation, research, policy, and capacity development.
Rather than creating new networks, the 16 EU and African partners in this project will consolidate existing ones, consisting of scientists, decision makers, practitioners, citizens and other key stakeholders, into an effective, problem-focused knowledge sharing mechanism. This will be coordinated by means of an innovation platform: the Africa-EU Innovation Alliance for Water and Climate.
