The RINEA and CAAST-Net Plus projects jointly organised a roundtable titled 'Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA): The role of Private Sector Institutions, Non-Governmental and Philanthropic Organisations' in Brussels, Belgium on 2 October 2015.
The roundtable brought together stakeholders interested in exploring the challenges of FNSSA. They discussed the potential contributions of the public, private, and philanthropic sectors to this challenge and talked about opportunities for joint actions between these sectors.
The participants identified current food security and sustainable agricultur activities in African science, technology and innovation, as well as obstacles for cooperation between the sectors, and conditions for their cooperation.
Representatives from the public and private sectors, and from research institutions took part in the event.
